adopt-a-nest program
The Adopt-A-Nest program is an annual fundraiser centered around sea turtle nesting season and the sea turtle program.
Lovers Key State Park protects numerous sea turtle nests along its shores each nesting season. The natural shoreline and dune beaches provide ideal habitats for these nests. However, human, animal intrusion and environmental impacts have posed challenges for these gentle sea giants, making survival a struggle. Our Rangers diligently monitor the park’s shoreline during nesting season, collaborating with experts statewide and nationwide to ensure nest protection.
You can again join us in this effort in 2025! Sponsors can select various donation levels to support our cause. Your contributions will provide essential supplies for nest protection and aid in overall resource management within Lovers Key State Park.
Sponsors are given the opportunity to symbolically “adopt a nest.”
Funds assist in providing Lovers Key State Park with the needed supplies used to protect their nests. It also helps pay for other resource management needs within the park.
*A custom sign is placed on the protective screen or stakes that are placed around the sea turtle nest until that nest hatches. Once hatched, you will be sent your Adopt-A-Nest packet, which contains the sign that was on the nest, a certificate, and a photo of their nest on the beach.

Adopt-A-Nest Levels
Hatchling Level
$20
Sponsors will have a laminated photo of a hatchling with donor’s name on it in the “Lovers Key Nest Chamber” kiosk at the WDC for the entire nesting season.
(This level does not include nest sign)
Loggerhead Level
$250
Sponsor will receive a personalized nest sign, certificate of adoption, nest photo, and adoption folder frame.
Green "Business" Level
$500
Sponsor will receive a personalized nest sign displaying business logo, certificate of adoption, nest photo, and adoption folder frame.
Leatherback Level
$2500
Sponsor’s sign will be the ONLY sign on the nest. Sponsor will receive a personalized nest sign that could include a photo, logo, or simply text, certificate of adoption, nest photo, adoption photo frame, a tour of the park by park staff, and a FOLKS merch package.
